‘A magazine devoted to international interiors and gardens’

Holiday Interiors and Gardens is a new print offshoot from the publishers of Holiday, the international travel and style review dating back to 1947 that was relaunched by Paris-based creative director Franck Durand in 2014. Fans of the former publication will be familiar with its large format and minimalist page design, which similarly lends itself to the interdisciplinary and creative subject matter you’ll find here.

As editor Sophie Pinet writes in her introduction to the aptly titled ‘season one’ issue: ‘Interior decoration requires almost as much curiosity as travel and, in its own way, enables us to traverse eras, styles, cultures and continents.’

Inside, you’ll find features on the tasteful trio of cover variants: Rich Stapleton turns his lens towards the warm oak interiors of the National Trust protected Castle Drogo in Drewsteignton, Harry Crowder captures the beautiful brutality of the thistle—Sophie Pinet’s ‘flower of the season’—and Federico Torra is welcomed into the brilliant white Belgian bedroom of revered architect Bernard Dubois, who spoke to Camille Okhio about the home as an affective archive. Also inside: Wendy Goodman, the former design editor of New York magazine, sits down with Christopher Niquet to walk the hallowed halls of bygone space’s preserved in memory and on the page, stills from a short film by Emir Eralp demonstrate how to install hooks, window grids and sliding window shades to individualise your home, and French novelist and winner of France’s prestigious Prix de Flore, Tristan Garcia, contributes a short story about AI and the interiority of the self.
