‘Chic and based since 1980’

The wait’s over—i-D is back! To recap: after parent company Vice Media declared bankruptcy back in 2023, the fashion and culture staple was put on indefinite hiatus, before being picked up by supermodel-turned-entrepreneur Karlie Kloss. With a return to print promised for over a year, it relaunches as a biannual under a revitalised team, with Thom Bettridge—formerly at 032c, Highsnobiety, Interview—at the helm as the newly minted editor-in-chief (and ‘your new i-Daddy’).

Adding to the intrigue of the relaunch is unknown cover star Enza Khoury, an 18-year old trans high school student and aspiring actress from Ohio, selected from a nationwide talent search—‘find an unknown young person somewhere in America, put her on the cover of our magazine, and see what happens,’ writes Bettridge on the casting.

Inside this, The Unknown Issue, Enza rubs shoulders with the likes of Rick Owens, Margaret Qualley, FKA twigs, Anne Imhof and Naomi Campbell, as well as dancer Lexee Smith and live streamer Darren Watkins Jr. Plus, a night out in 90s Liverpool, a peek inside the bedrooms of Tokyo youth, skaters in London, and ‘24 pages of dubious advice’. Welcome back, i-D
