This issue of Brighton’s low-fi ‘Offie Mag’ (as it’s more lovingly known) is themed ‘Jazz’, with editor-in-chief Greg Stanley pledging to platform only the least pretentious jazz content around. Inside, features celebrate the Black pioneers of jazz, as well as drawing attention to the innovators who are shifting our perception of the genre today.
As always, the issue has two covers, depending which end of the magazine you start with. Choose from Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Venna and British genre-fusing septet Kokoroko.
Plus, the Off Licence team deliver a dispatch from the Socialist pastures of Cuba: ‘In reality, it’s state controlled capitalism… And yet, “anything is possible”’, as evidenced by the team’s contact with the country’s thriving creative and community networks.
