‘Board games are beautiful’
A magazine about the craft, creativity and community of board games. Top fact, the magazine is named after (according to editor Dan Jolin) ‘the oldest known board game, dating back to around 3,000 BCE in Egypt.’
Issue #21 for Winter 2025 travels far and wide as it enthuses about global board games and the local scenes surrounding them. Senet meets Ricardo Ferreira, the co-founder of VianaCon in Portugal, a convention where board games are a means to seek comfort and friendship. Podcaster Camilo Navarro describes Xanadu as an artisanal game dear to Colombian gamers for its modern, dynamic approach. Utah-based game designer Ryan Laukat is also interviewed. He opens up about his childhood years, where he illustrated his first game to the epic world-building of ‘Arzium,’ a self-created, story-book aesthetic universe that spans across a series of board games.
