The Baffler publishes cultural analysis, short stories, poems, art and left-wing political criticism six times a year. This latest edition is themed ‘Expatriates’ with the prospect of moving abroad offering editor-in-chief Matthew Shen Goodman some welcome respite on the morning of 2024’s US presidential election. Unfortunately for Goodman, as he soon discovered, many of the crises inflicting American citizens are immune to borders. He concludes: ‘no need then to uproot yourself to venture somewhere foreign and join the Gringo Worldwide.’
Contributors to this issue comment on the phenomenon of the ‘Passport Bro,’ ask The Baffler's readers to reconsider the humanity of humanitarian aid alongside features of poetry and prose.
