Spring 2025

The very first issue of The Face appeared back in 1980. Today the original style magazine continues to share the best stories, culture, talent, fashion, photography and design in the world. A no-brow bounty of film, sports, sex, drugs, pop and politics.

This is the Cult Classic issue, headlined by the likes of Clairo, John Malkovich and Vybz Kartel. Elsewhere, the rise of women stoners and barbering apprentices, an ice hockey-styled shoot, and three Gazans document their daily lives under occupation.

Plus, editor Matthew Whitehouse in conversation with The Face founder Nick Logan on the last page, reflecting on 45 years of the magazine in light of a current exhibition—The Face Magazine: Culture Shift—on at London's National Portrait Gallery. Certainly worth a visit if you're in town, it runs till 18 May.

On the Journal
As the National Portrait Gallery’s survey of photography from The Face opened to ecstatic reviews, the founder/editor Nick Logan and first art director Neville Brody met for a rare live interview. We’re excited to share a recording of their conversation.
