‘Subterranean England through the world of Gonzo journalism’

Bridge & Tunnel is a punchy new zine that points a finger at the banality of life in the UK culture and... laughs at it. Taking its name from the—primarily derogative—term for those who commuted into the city from the suburbs in 20th century New York City, the zine also responds to its later appropriation by Londoners referring to the ‘culturally ignorant’. Dwelling firmly in the British underground, it contains features and conversations spanning the fields of ‘art, music, culture, sex, drugs, and rock & roll’.

This sophomore issue for Fall/Winter ’25 features another motley crew, from the unwitting phone sex worker, whose number had found its way—whether ill-intentioned or not—on to an escort call card, to a Reading-native dubiously staking claim to Mexican heritage as he approaches his wrestling-themed 22nd birthday. Alongside the typical Gonzo-inspired features, you’ll also find a decidedly more sincere conversation with ascendent rapper Brian Nasty; poignant commentary on topics such as cosmetic surgery and how social media commercialises the idea of self-discovery; plus, as the Orientalist-gaze of the Max1000000 designed cover indicates, an entire chapter dedicated to stories about Southeast Asia, satirising Western tourism.
