A Magazine Curated By describes itself as ‘a fashion magazine that explores the universe of a chosen fashion designer in each issue… Each issue celebrates this designer’s ethos: their people, their passion, their stories, emotions, fascinations, spontaneity and authenticity.’

Carrying the torch of guest curator for this issue, it’s Copenhagen-based womenswear designer Cecilie Bahnsen.

From the curator: ‘Across the pages, you’ll find people I truly admire—artists, photographers, writers and mothers—whose work shares the same spirit as the pieces I create…What connects everything here is a sense of honesty—an acceptance of imperfection, of life as it is, and of how things change and grow with time like our clothes, nothing within these pages stands still. Every part of it is alive and evolving.’

Inside, woven between Bahnsen’s beautifully photographed designs, you’ll find a conversation with art historian Katy Hessel exploring the longstanding ties between fashion and art, a discussion with Laird Borrelli-Persson, Vogue’s senior archive editor, on the dual nature of bows—both functional and decadent—and endearing illustrations by Bahnsen’s husband that playfully document family life with their son, Ib. You’ll also encounter striking photography: Bill Owens’ familial portraits of suburbia, Zoe Natale Mannella’s intimate explorations of sisterhood, and Josefine Seifert’s studies of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art captured at different moments throughout the day.
