‘A three course meal as a magazine’

Family Style describes itself as ‘a fantasy dinner party in the form of an arts and culture journal.’ While the name is borrowed most obviously from the style of shared eating, it is also inspired by the congregation of a shared discourse.

For its ninth issue, Family Style interrogates the theme of ‘togetherness’:

‘Who do we become when we are together? What is our effect on those whom we surround ourselves with—our lovers, our foes, our colleagues—and what is theirs on us? What do we sacrifice for the other, and what do we relish individually?’

On the covers, you’ll find the likes of award winning German actress Sandra Hüller, photographed by Harley Weir; models Gret Mateides, Auriane Chevènement and Akuol Deng; Polish supermodel and activist Anja Rubik, set against a glorious sun-kissed Istanbul to coincide with the 15th instalment of IST.Festival; as well as, a surreal painting by creative and romantic duo Alejandro Jodorowsky and Pascale Montandon-Jodorowsky.

As ever, the issue is cleverly divided into three sections—Aperitivo, Dinner Service, and Something Sweet.
