‘Visually pretty. Vocally gritty.'

WIC (West Indian Creatives) Magazine is a new arts and culture magazine that spotlights the depth, beauty and global influence of African and Caribbean creativity. Every issue is designed to feel like an exhibition and to celebrate the many layers of diasporic identity, whilst shining a necessary light on the challenges faced by natives amidst increased gentrification.

This thought-provoking debut issue, themed ‘A Common Thread’, considers the shared roots, memories, and creative practices that connect African and Caribbean communities across borders. Expect beautiful 35mm landscape photography from Martinique, a review of Michaela Yearwood-Dan’s gestural paintings, a tribute to the late Dominican fashion designer Oscar de la Renta, conversations with the likes of Doreen Gittens, founder of Archipelago Textiles, and Caribbean musician Maric, as well as an issue-themed Spotify playlist and recipe section to round off the issue.
