‘A magazine of thought and contemporary culture’

Published by the Portuguese Fundação EDP, Electra is ‘an international quarterly of cultural, social, and political criticism, study, and reflection.’

This is the Spring 2026 edition, themed ‘Infrastructures’; it explores the concept’s many definitions, and advances the idea that infrastructures are ‘the unconscious of the world we inhabit and of the time in which we live.’ Featuring a blend of contemporary art and philosophical inquiry, inside you’ll find a conversation with German filmmaker and essay documentary pioneer Hito Steyerl on the evolution of image-making in the age of AI; Italian director and writer Giorgiomaria Cornelio discusses ‘what happens when images thaw?’, in a rhizomatic essay spanning melting icecaps and the paradoxically global warming advancing tools of bearing witness; and, Serge Ricco pays homage to the prolific career of Brazilian art director and designer Beatriz Feitler—known for her contributions to Harper’s Bazaar, Ms. Magazine, Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair—cut short following her premature death from cancer at age 44.
