‘Chic and based since 1980’

Editor Thom Bettridge introduces this Spring/Summer 2026 edition of i-D—the third since its splashy relaunch last year—declaring that, while the internet is not quite dead, it is changing. As facts feel increasingly accessible, he argues, people are drawn to more complicated stories filled with surprise and mystery—also known as ‘Lore’.

This ‘Lore’ edition showcases cover stars who feel both infamous and, in some way, unknown. From Esdeekid, the anonymous rapper hailing from Liverpool, and former engineering student turned overnight modelling success Bhavitha Mandava, to the eminent yet unfazed SZA, and the late legendary photographer of the uncanny everyday, Martin Parr.

This Special World Cup Re-Edition for June 2026 features Chelsea star Cole Palmer sporting a quintessentially British Burberry jacket on the cover. Inside, he reflects on his exclusion from the 2026 England squad and what he’s up to off pitch—from spending time with his family back home in Manchester, to trademarking his own brand of ‘Cole’d Ice’ cubes.
