First published 2014
Editor-in-chief: James Bird

Our favourite football magazine is back: ‘From the Casuals to the Streetwear Culture Wars, from Parma in the 90s to Kazna Asker in 2025, from the madness of Bikkembergs to the absolute seriousness of a manager in a suit’. This is The Fashion Issue!

Issue 35 pays homages to the OG trendsetters, celebrating the fans wearing football apparel long before it graced the likes of Pinterest and Timothée Chalamet on a press junket. Kicking off the issue, you’ll find 12 pages of Mundial’s favourite archival looks from the past decade. 1980s youth subculture ‘Casuals’ is spotlighted in an article analysing its underestimated significance on British style, attitudes, and music. Additionally, a fun crossover! Mundial meets Shukyu, a smartly designed Japanese magazine that explores football through the lens of culture.

On the Journal

At work with editor Dan Sandison: ‘We’d had quite a few offers from weird and wonderful organisations to buy us out over the years, and we’d pretty consistently turned them down. This felt different though, they were publishers and football people. We got on. Fast forward six months and we are working on a magazine for the first time in about three years… It’s been a long time in the making, and we are all made up to be back.’
