This is one of those surprise arrivals that makes you wonder why nobody thought to publish something similar before. Nicked Journal opens up the apparently mundane world of the British court system, providing rare insight into a world usually only observed by those involved in trials. The second issue is subtitled ‘Bumpkin goes to Court,’ and covers a civilian’s escapades at the notoriously inaccessible Old Bailey, poking fun at the ridiculous-seeming process of the murder trial underway, combining a diaristic account of the day with historical fact and a smart, tongue-in-cheek layout.
‘For this segment, we send one of our wide-eyed readers to go and make a nuisance of themselves in court for the day. What follows will be sure to give lawyers among the readership a jolly good laugh at the pig-ignorant laity, and give the laity a jolly good laugh at the lawyers.’
