Openhouse visits creative people around the world who open up their homes and private spaces to the public, whether it be for showing art, gastronomic experiences or playing music.
This issue approaches space more abstractly, with the theme ‘The Matter of the Eternal’ focusing on the shared emotions that historical streets, villas, homes, and art evoke. Inside, Openhouse introduces SM Galerie, a new space by the Parisian architecture studio SM Bureau and ‘a natural extension of their creative world’. Dedicated to authentic collaboration, the profile documents Studio Torbina’s debut exhibition in the space, ‘Soul of Matière’, showcasing a design ethos lead by the organic properties of the materials used, with the weight, edges and textures presented holding their own raw power. The issue also offers a window into the studio of multi-disciplinary artist and cover star Chidy Wayne, designed by Isern Serra to ‘feel like home’ whilst also providing the necessary versatility required of a working studio. Plus, an insight into Studio Luca Guadagnino’s adaptation of the Baroque-style ‘Palazzo Talìa’—originally a 17th-century school, the Roman palace has since been transformed into a beautiful five star hotel that pays homage to its heritage, as well as reflecting the magical chaos of the city today.
