A certified magCulture favourite, this is the sixth issue of David McKendrick’s ‘Good News’ magazine, Paperboy. Perfect-bound since the fifth issue, this sixth is particularly good looking with its white, textured cover and (first-time) foiled logo.
The theme this time is ‘People’ and explores ‘the wonders of humanity: theirs, yours, ours.’ As David writes in his ever-human introductions: ‘We are humans, you’re a human — and we don’t doubt that you’re beautiful, not to mention spectacular. Your intelligence is not artificial, and neither is ours. It’s 100% human.’
Oh, and as ever, make sure to turn to the final page for ‘The Last Word’ by Pam Mason — retired laundrette manager, and now, famed typographical artist. Lovely stuff.
On the Journal:
At work with David McKendrick: ‘I don’t want it to sound too basic, but I drew up a wish list of all the great accomplished people I have worked with over the years, and I dreamt a little, and in an old fashioned manner got on the phone, told them about Paperboy, and the idea and begged the question “will you be part of this?” and much to my surprise, everyone seemed up for it.’
