Founded in 1896, the AR has a proud tradition of challenge and criticism, scouring the globe for architecture that provokes and inspires, and relying on its immense archive and critically acclaimed writers to shape architectural discourse. Combine this with a rich history of contemporary editorial design and you have a magazine of interest beyond its natural architectural audience.
This December 2025/January 2026 issue, themed ‘AR House’, features five houses redefining the meaning of the building. From the tourist-led commercialisation of Gaudi’s Casa Batllo in Barcelona, to the narrow escape from recent forest fires, and subsequent restoration, of The Eames House in California, via others in Kyoto, Caracas and Beirut.
Plus the six houses commended in the AR House Awards.
