‘A window into the artist’s world’

A new hardbound title from Berlin, The Art of Seeing takes a highly informative and considered approach to the private lives of artists: ‘offering a platform for artists to share their story. So they can be truly seen. And offering a source of guidance and inspiration for creatives. So they can clearly see’. The magazine is predominantly interview based, with plenty of portrait photography and reprinted artworks to paint a full picture of the artist being profiled.

Befitting of the intimacy with which the magazine portrays its creative subjects, the English multi-media artist Makiko Harris is photographed in bed for the cover of this expansive debut issue. Titled ‘The Hard Places Issue’, inside you’ll find personal conversations traversing the fields of music, fashion, art and design, literature and film, and featuring the likes of Scottish light installation artist and poet Robert Montgomery, German designer and regular cover illustrator for The New Yorker Christoph Niemann, and British fashion designer and former advisor to Alexander McQueen, Deborah Milner.
