Each issue of this new magazine unfolds into a large-format showcase of the work of one artist, accompanied by a long form interview with the subject. The large pages are unbound, allowing images to flow around the back of other pages to create large poster forms—each issue has four posters and a reference plate providing a visual background to the artist.
Issue two features Polish-born composer, pianist, and vocalist Hania Rani. Vanguard Union Press founder Olivia Wunsche interviews her about her recent international tour and her relationship with her music.
Olivia is a graphic designer and artist, and Vanguard Union Press is notable for its elegant, contemporary design. The writing, design and production work in tight unison to establish a format worthy of her references to the sixties’ underground press.
