Design Week publishing supplement

Design Week ran it’s annual publishing supplement last week.

As ever it’s a good mix of material. Designer Mike Dempsey is disappointed by the state of UK newspaper design, but pleasantly surprised by the sophistication of newspaper websites; Penguin Books art director Jim Stoddart tells us ‘It's up to us to make books stay alive. The brief at the moment is, “How can you present books to make them completely and utterly desirable?” What a great brief!’; design journalist Yolanda Zappaterra writes about how independent magazines can influence the mainstream, in which I offer the latest version of my ‘magazine-y’ rant; and designer Michael Johnson looks at how websites are moving away from effect toward function.

The content is now available online, but only to to subscribers to the magazine, here.
