Full-time shop manager

We’re looking for a hard-working self starter to oversee the continued growth of the magCulture Shop.
You’ll have the perfect mix of super-efficient admin skills and knowledge of, and love for, magazines.
 
Five days per week, Monday—Friday, 10am—6pm
40 hours total, all on-site (this is not a remote job)
Salary: £34k pa
To start early January 2025
Responsible to the creative director



Main purpose of the role
—Ensuring the smooth running of all aspects of the magCulture Shop and e-commerce site, including stock control, updating the online shop, and managing part-time staff.


Day-to-day tasks
Taking a lead on in-store and online retail operation by completing the following, both personally/and overseeing part-time staff in doing so:
— Assisting customers in shop; providing them with product knowledge as well as other aspects of magCulture (events, newsletter etc).
—Handling cash and card payments and sales records for shop.
—Packing and shipping online orders.
—Monitoring customer emails and queries.
—Receiving daily deliveries, recording, stacking and displaying appropriately.
—Keeping the shop tidy, clean and organised.
—Welcoming guests including student groups, industry visits, and friends of magCulture.
—Keeping an eye on new magazines to stock.

—Maintaining our Instagram feed.


Essential skills and experience

—Exceptional organisational skills, with a strong ability to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks to deadline.
—Knowledge and appreciation of the independent magazine scene.
—Strong writing skills.
—Excellent communication skills.
—Experience of retail and e-commerce advantageous.
—Experience of working in a creative arts environment also advantageous.


Other areas of the business

This role is dedicated to the magCulture Shop, but we are a very small team so there is some potential to contribute to other areas of the business in the future.

Tech
Apple, Google documents, Shopify, Asana, Slack, Instagram. Adobe Creative Cloud an advantage.
