Cover story
Esquire and Morph
The latest subscriber-only cover of the UK edition of Esquire features children’s TV character Morph, re-created by Aardman (the newsstand version features Sean Penn).
It’s developed from a fashion story inside the issue, in which Morph models the latest men’s fashions (below). A nice idea that plays on the nostalgia for children’s TV, it hits the right age group and also, sadly, coincides with the recent death of Morph creator Tony Hart.
Brave almost to the point of being foolhardy, the cover takes full advantage of the split-run for subscribers, resulting in an image that could hardly be more different to the usual men’s magazine cover.
