An excellently titled, tome-like publication chronicling 50 years of artists' zines from North America, Copy Machine Manifestos is a rich archive of zine culture, production and aesthetics. Beginning with the 1970s, the visual survey is split across five decades, featuring over eight hundred beautiful and iconic zines (covers, spreads and all), plus the artists and collectives behind them.
Published as part of a current exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum (running till March 2024), it's a treasure trove of North American visual and publishing (sub)culture, and certainly the next best thing to seeing the exhibition IRL, for those of us who can't nip off to New York.
