Cose Journal #2

230 x 300mm, 194 pages
Milan, Italy (English-language)
Annual
First published in 2023
Editor-in-chief and creative director: Giulia Nardi
Editor: Gilda Bruno

A beautifully designed, image-led title from Milano, Cose Journal (that’s Italian for things) is a study of our relationships to everyday objects and their functions, particularly against the backdrop of overconsumption and capitalism. Produced In a similar vein to the likes of Objection and Tools, each issue is dedicated to a single object. For their sophomore edition, that's the ‘Desk’.

On a pleasing mix of glossy and matt paper stocks, inside you’ll find mostly visual pieces exploring ‘the quiet objects that rest upon the desk’, from scissors, to glasses of water, to paperweights, coffee cups, bananas, USB cables, vapes, and more.

There’s an intriguing photo essay of desk-based items that have been pressed into people's skin, leaving behind an impression of the object, as well as editorial features—short stories in BIG type, an essay on the 'Sociology of the Table', an interview with art residency programme Terraterra, and another with jug-maker, Judith Hopf.

This time with five different covers to choose from.
