We do love a magazine about magazines! Printing Fashion is a must-read for anybody interested in the role of the magazine today. Created and produced by students on the Fashion Studies MA at The New School Parsons, Paris, in collaboration with Justin Morin and Marco Pecorari at the university.
This fourth issue explores ‘Resistance’ within today’s fashion and publishing industries, as well as society as a whole.
The issue opens with a two-page, graphically bold ‘Manifesto of Fashion as Resistance’ by Carla Fernàndez, before moving through a glossy photo story about magazines resisting (or failing to resist) physical attack by cold, heat and drilling, and on to an indepth interview with Jeppe Ugellvig, founder of Viscose Journal.
Further questions addressed include: How do magazines challenge gender construction? and what was the role of fashion at the time of World War II?
