Esse is a contemporary art magazine that focuses on a theme per issue, addressing visual, digital and performance art within that context. Its mission is 'to publish a socially engaged magazine by addressing ethical reflections and the major changes that result.'
Issue #112 is titled 'Rêves' (dreams) presenting artworks that use dreams as a rich material to draw inspiration from whilst also debating whether the urge to interpret our dreams is a 'violent extraction' preventing us from letting our sleepy subconscious thoughts exist in multi-faceted ways. Further explorations on this topic include artworks that make sense of dreams which help one reach geographical places they couldn't do in reality, dreams of political hope and the antithesis to dreams; insomnia.
