Feu #5

191 x 260mm, 200 pages
Paris, France (French and English-language)
Annual, first published 2020
Editor-in-chief and creative director: Fabrice Tayeau
Head of production: Morgane Tayeau

A newer title for the shop, but not new to the world: Feu is dedicated to celebrating queer and creole identities at large. Interestingly, it's also created by three siblings, Morgane, Fabrice, and Yannick (working on production, art direction, finance respectively). The three siblings are based in Paris but were born in the Caribbean.

Its fifth edition is themed ‘The Maroon Issue’, translated from marronage, or 'the art of the slave fight', as their editor's letter explains in a bold black sans serif. Taking inspiration from the book Sagesse des lianes in which the author writes about how former slaves were forced to take refuge in 'green hell' of the tropical forest, Feu 'sets out to find the new maroons, exploring contemporary forms of marronage in a hyper-connected world.'
