‘An archive of visual expressions’
In a society ‘overtaken by screens and instant gratification’, Obra seeks to put things On Paper, as this third edition is themed. Likening the printing of independent publications to a countercultural pursuit, they believe—and we agree—that ‘printed matter provides an unmatched experience.’
As such, the team behind this Latin American/Swiss publication offer this issue as an ode to the experience of paper, allowing the 2000-year old technology its moment in an otherwise digitally-inclined spotlight. And inside? You'll find illustrative work reproduced on high quality paper by artists who use drawing as their main medium—and it's really quite gorgeous (think a less hectic version of Fukt).
‘Ranging from collage to drawing in ink, crayon, watercolor, pastel, colored pencil, graphite, and other techniques, we draw attention to paper as a distinctive manifestation of image-making.’
