Aesthetica #132

210 x 296 mm, 148 pages
York, UK
Bimonthly
Editor: Cherie Federico
Creative director: Eleanor Sutherland

Produced in the north of England, Aesthetica offers a much-welcomed, non London-centric view of art, design, photography and general culture.

Issue #132 for August/September 2026 marks 20 years of the Aesthetica Art Prize, which champions exciting new talent in contemporary art. Throughout the pages, the concept of space and its inhabitants is explored—from the literal confines of the Canadian Cabins in the new Gestalten photobook ‘Northern Exposure’ to the cultural sphere of the ever-changing youth culture documented in Fotografie Forum Frankfurt’s current exhibition ‘Gen Z’. Elsewhere, this edition’s cover story showcases Jada and David Parrish’s monochrome hand-built set design, with their surreal use of space no doubt informed by their background in wedding and portrait photography.

Other featured artists this issue include the likes of Vijay Sarathy, Małgorzata Stankiewicz, Yannis Davy Guibinga, and more.

On the Journal:

‘We look for ‘art’ in the broadest sense, featuring works that are both visually engaging and conceptually or culturally important. There are layers to the images and pieces that we publish, all with ties to a rapidly changing world, from the climate crisis to conversations around social justice’ – Kate Simpson, Associate editor.
