A new, branded publication from the people behind dating app Feeld. Themed ‘Rooms with a View’, this impressive third issue is devoted to interiors and interiorities: ‘We wanted to think of the places that hold our days, lives, thoughts and moods, whether those are fleeting or routine,’ the team elaborate in their editorial. Arriving for the first time with an exciting selection of multiple fold-out covers, readers can choose between an intimate figurative oil painting by Nicole Eisenman; a black and white portrait of artist Marf Summers, photographed by Kees de Klein and Cain Isan Wittenhaus; and a bookish portrait of philosopher Amia Srinivasan, captured by Kobe Wagstaff.
Inside, readers can expect a whole host of non–fiction, poetry, essays and photo editorials, including profiles on cover stars Marf Summers and Amia Srinivasan. Elsewhere, Sarah Nicole Prickett examines Julianne Moore’s embodiment of American alienation in Todd Hayne’s 1995 film ‘Safe’, accompanied by a glossy A3 ‘Movie Poster’ by cover artist Nicole Eisenman; data scientist Tyler Patton delivers an enlightening report on the sexual preferences of Feeld users; Nell Whittaker traces an erotic history of The World of Interiors, together with a selection of notable bedrooms pulled from archival issues by WOI editor Emily Tobin; and five writers respond to the brief ‘one dark room’ in a feature illustrated by NYC’s First Lady Rama Duwaji.
And what does AFM stand for? Well, as the type running down the left of the front cover reveals, it’s A Fucking Magazine—pun, we assume, intended. Though, as the editors write, it could also be read as A Feeld Magazine, you know, just in case they’d gotten ‘carried away with themselves’.
