Run Ins is a new biannual publication comprised of writing and visual art that explores the ebb and flow of exchange and creativity across various iterations of city life, both real and imagined. Its inaugural edition features contributions from 18 emerging writers across several cities, designed in New York and printed by PageMasters in London.

This debut issue addresses the theme of chance encounters, weaving together a series of observations and ‘hybrid reflections’ on meetings engineered by fate or coincidence. Poetic contributions from editor Naja Surattee, Gabrielle Sicam, Ulysses Razo, and Stella Parker are threaded throughout, complemented by photography and artworks by Callum Lovell Harrison and Asha Trihn, amongst others. Elsewhere, there is an ode to the unique sanctity of the smoking area from Dee Sharma, while Ernest Pedder recounts a regrettable run in with the self-deprecating ‘Jacob’, and Ivory Pijin offers an analysis of mundane yet inadvertently political behaviors.
