S(O)L is a new magazine devoted to the morning, unexpectedly ‘dreamt up by three self-confessed night owls’. Borrowing its name from the word for sun in Spanish—with a twist—S(O)L aims to investigate and reframe the rituals of daily life, exploring how routine can provide both comfort and confinement.

This debut edition, themed ‘Breakfast’, brings together a variety of morning-appropriate recipes, such as Peruvian tortillas, a Ratatouille-esque South African dish known as Chakalaka, coiled boerewors sausage, Chinese beef bone broth, the Colombian egg dish Pericos, homemade strained yoghurt, and more. Accompanied throughout by annotations on where best to source ingredients, anecdotes, and photography from the kitchen, plus collage-style illustrations and graphics.
