The Funambulist #56

200 x 250 mm, 82 pages
Paris, France (English-language)
Bimonthly
Editor-in-chief: Léopold Lambert
Graphic design: Akakir Studio

A magazine concerning the politics of space and bodies, which along with its podcast and blog, is building an archive for anti-colonial, anti-racist, queer, and feminist struggles. Now published in English, French, and Spanish (we have the English version).

The 56th edition of The Funambulist is themed Bulldozer Politics, which references a small book written by editor-in-chief Léopold Lambert about 'the systematic use of the bulldozer by the Israeli state to destroy Palestinian homes since 1948. This issue revisits this book, translates some of its main parts, and put its argument about the precise political order of “ruination” in dialogue with other geographical contexts.'

And what’s the meaning of funambulist, you ask? ‘One who performs on a tightrope or slack rope.’

On the Journal:
At work with Léopold Lambert… ‘Two thirds of our incomes come from subscriptions (annual or monthly, digital only or print and digital), which is really the key point of our ‘business model’ (always a word that sounds odd in the context of an anti-capitalist publication…).’
