Another issue of the beautifully designed and much sought-after Tools has arrived at the magCulture shop. Celebrating the act of making—the combination of hand and mind that underlies any act of manufacture—the magazine concerns the meeting of art and science, mixing techniques old and new.
Like MacGuffin, this is a magazine that uses the seemingly prosaic to unlock bigger stories of human endeavour. After the first three issues, themed ‘To Mold,’ ‘To Weave,’ and ‘To Fold,’ respectively, the method under the microscope this time around is ‘To Cut’, at first an act of destruction but quickly proven as a method of production as well.
This is another rich issue filled with characters a cut above the rest: dog groomers, hedge trimmers, butchers, plastic surgeons, gem cutters, and tree fellers. Très beaux!
