Just in time for Christmas
Not a magazine, not even about magazines, but an absolute must for the Christmas wish list of anybody interested in the point at which graphic design and pop culture meet. Forget your Brodys and Savilles – at last there’s a book on British designer Colin Fulcher, AKA Barney Bubbles. It was his designs for Stiff Records and later Radar Records (Elvis Costello sleeve, above) that attracted me to graphic design. Even without seeing the book I know it will be inspirational. UPDATE: as well as contributing to Oz magazine in the late sixties, Bubbles helped redesign New Musical Express in 1978. An adaptation of his logo (below) is still in use today.
