Monocle is the magazine figurehead of the international design/business/culture media empire launched by Tyler Brûlé in 2007: multiple magazines, live events, 24-hour radio and a branding agency.
This is the ‘Mobility & Design Special’ for November 2026, leading with Monocle’s annual ‘Mobility Survey’. This time it’s a 24-page affair, taking readers on ‘a wild ride through the fast-changing world of transport’—from the Japanese bullet trains receiving a luxury upgrade, to the electric motorcycles reshaping how people get around in African cities.
Elsewhere, ten architects, artists and designers share the spaces that have informed their practice, including a peek into Chicago-based designer and academic Theaster Gates’ former industrial studio conversion, and flick to the back of the issue for an expansive photo editorial documenting three days of fire drills in Tachikawa, home of Tokyo Fire Department’s Hyper Rescue 8 unit.
