‘Exploring Desire’

Erotic Review was first published as a bimonthly magazine in 1997, and then relaunched in 2024 as a smartly designed art and literary platform that explores desire in its many forms and complexities. Expect short fiction, essays, photography, extracts from novels, personal reflections and more.

This latest issue features a portrait from art curator Holly Blakey and photographer Oliver Chanarin’s ‘The Rehearsal’ (2026) on the cover. Opening the issue, editor Lucy Roeber delves into the process of realising Blakey’s vision—to create a pamphlet capturing erotic dance in the style of playwright Bertolt Brecht’s modelbooks—unfolding across 48 sumptuous pages inside this edition. Elsewhere, Philippa Snow delves into the media legacy of pornographic sensationalist Bonnie Blue, novelist Vincenzo Latronico explores the semantics of sex, and writer P. Eldridge explores her intersex diagnosis through various references spanning Freudian theory to the music of Kim Petras.
