Not another awards competition, just a chance to choose your favourite piece of editorial design and have it exhibited

Before handing over to me as Chair of EDO, Paul Harpin came up with a great idea for celebrating what we editorial designers do day in, day out. Then he left me to organise it (only joking Paul).

The EDO DIY Exhibition takes place in London on February 5th. All EDO members are invited to choose one piece of design – a cover, a page or a spread – and submit it for exhibition. The example can be your own work, your teams’, or anyone elses. It just has to be your favourite piece from 2008. Send us a tearsheet of the chosen piece (or decent copy/scan) and we'll pin it up on the wall.

The resulting exhibition will be an informal snapshot of our industry’s 2008 output. There will be no winners/losers, no awards, but we hope to have a bit of fun, initiate some discussion and get trade press interest in the selection to promote our industry.

Full details on how to submit work are on the EDO site. It’s open to EDO members only, for whom the exhibition will take the form of a free party to say thank you for your support over our first year (if you're not a member you can pay to enter the party).

So don’t forget to renew your EDO membership asap. Again, details on the website.
