Washington Post, Earth Day covers
To mark Earth Day 2019, The Washington Post Magazine has highlighted the key aspects of climate change, publishing a special edition of 24 ‘cover’ designs, each promoting a story The Post has written over the past year.
The introduction to the issue opens, ‘A successful magazine cover accomplishes a few things: It elevates the importance of an article; it finds a way to grab your attention; it persuades you to learn more about the topic at hand. Which is why a series of magazine covers may be the perfect way to read about climate change — a topic where the grim particulars all too often seem to run together.’
The series of images make great use of photography and illustration and are a clever way to focus minds on the subject of climate change. They add further, timely weight to the messages of David Attenborough’s ‘Climate Change: The Facts’ and the international Extinction Rebellion campaign.
