‘For the love of reading’
Rather than being jam-packed with book reviews, Oh Reader is a magazine about reading, about enjoying books. It centres the lives of those who love reading, bringing the community together to share the stories that shape their lives. It comes with a healthy but realistic respect for the analogue. ‘I have to be realistic about what we can and can’t live without,’ says editor Gemma Peckham, ‘You can take my phone and my fitness tracker, but you can never take my e-reader.’
This issue features Chinelo Benita’s story about a student-led secret library within a missionary boarding school; Carole Ann Penney on the books that helped her understand her autism; and Evan Satinsky and the wholesome joys of avid reading as a way to slow down the need for technological gratification.
