Talker #5
180 x 280 mm, 20 pages
London, UK
First published in 2016
Editor: Giles Bailey
Each issue of Talker consists of an in depth conversation with a performance artist, resulting in an illustrated, risograph-printed zine.
While the interviews are usually conducted by fellow artist Giles Bailey, this fifth issue instead features a transcript of a conversation between two downtown renegades—novelist and poet Kathy Acker and actor and writer Spalding Gray—that occurred at the ICA in 1987. The result is an electric back and forth involving the audience and giving glimpses into Spalding’s early writing and performance work for theatre, prior to his later screen adaptations.
