True Photo Journal is a large-format photography journal showcasing unpublished personal projects from established and emerging photographers, with the invitation to 'experiment, create or revisit.’ Unconstrained by commercial focus, it sets different parameters for the creative conversation between publication and contributor.
This latest issue is the magazine’s 11th, and sees it published in hardback for the second time. It opens with a series of abstracted and experimental images of nature by Eric Gyamfi—all taken in his native Ghana.
From there, it’s a conversation between longtime friends Matthew Genitempo and Bryan Schutmaat, alongside previously unpublished images from their latest projects, Dogbreath and Sons of the Living respectively, in which the pair capture and engage with ‘a complex national narrative’ through their monochromatic photographs of the American West.
