Origho Journal is a new arts and culture magazine from Nigeria, serving as an outlet for unhindered creative expression and championing Africa’s fecund and pluralistic artistic output.

Described by editor Anita Orighomisan Dafeta as ‘an ode to the undiscovered creative realms, challenging the status quo and giving a voice to those who have none’, this remarkable debut issue spotlights seven creative projects spanning the mediums of film, acrylic and oil painting, and photography. A generous portion of the issue is given over to the visual documentation and accompanying analysis of ‘Allamaya: A New World’—an arresting short film, directed by Anita and Franklyn Ogbonna, exploring the temporal entanglement of traditional West African architecture, craftsmanship and language with contemporary developments in AI, cognitive function, and technology.
