From the creators of TWIST, TWIST TARGET is the first curious special edition in a series of publications—each created using raw data generated from a single artist; Vol. 1 explores the work of Mexican designer Victor Barragán. Equal parts weird and wonderful, discover original conversations, ‘word-processed experiments’, and avant-garde artwork, all unfolding over a diverse range of conceptual terrains.
According to the editors: ‘Contemporary culture runs on pareidolia: the impulse to find patterns, connect dots and map out signals. TWIST TARGET resists that broad cartography. By inhabiting one practice at a time, it orients itself through singular critique, close-reading, and character examination.’
This inaugural volume, themed ‘Bring Your Own Ethnographic Needle’, profiles the fashion designer Victor Barragán. Through surrealist generated imagery, the issue unveils how a ‘post-internet’ generation of artists have translated their own subjectivity into art via AI phone documentation and Instagram formats. Inside, featured articles and interviews look into Barragán’s childhood in Mexico, his instagram presence, and his view on the relationship between fashion and the runway.
