Fukt #21, Unknown

165 x 235 mm, 226 pages
Berlin, Germany
Annual
Editor: Bjorn Hegardt
Creative director: Arianne Spanier

The themed magazine of contemporary drawing returns with The Unknown Issue. Complete with an obscured front cover, this edition features a partial dust-jacket that hides most of its cover and the dark blue type that spells out this edition's theme 'UNKNOWN' (a wraparound that deserves a peek behind...)

Inside, this edition feels spooky. The drawings inside are ethereal, ghoulish and uncanny and feature 'Monsters, Myths and Magic' as the opening feature is named. It's a theme that's based on the idea that we live in 'a world of a million unknowns' — from aliens and deep-sea creatures, to those we pass in the street every day and the 'unknowns' of our own (and their) subconscious.

As editor-in-chief Bjørn Hegardt writes in his editor's letter, this issue allows us to 'dive into the rollercoaster of uncertainties, unanswered questions, and uncharted territories. It's exactly in these unexplored realms that our understanding expands, and our capacity for wonder thrives.' Better breathe deep and dive in...

So many, including myself just picking up books or magazines because of their covers..’
