Tinted Issue is an independent, non-profit, and staunchly AI-free art and design magazine from Copenhagen, featuring interviews, essays and photo stories devoted to a unique way of seeing: ‘Every person, every perspective, holds its own tint.’ Hence the name Tinted Issue, a reference to the Spanish word for ink—‘tinta’—evocative of permanence, imperfection and the tangibility of print.
This debut edition, themed ‘The Illusion of Hierarchy’, explores the binary between what we do and who we are, and how we orient ourselves due to our personal and inherited value systems. Readers can expect: six interviews featuring creatives from the disparate—but overlapping—fields of architecture, product design, catering, curation, creative direction, and hospitality, including conversations with chef and ‘She Serves’ co-founder Nanna-Marie Thinesen and the trio behind multifunctional wine bar/tattoo studio/gallery Panache; a cover story delving into the historical symbolism of veins, a prejudiced colonial tool of subjugation; and an essay by Norma Eggenberger on ‘Lately I’ve Been Dreaming in Pink and Blue’, a photo project made in collaboration with Swiss-German visual artist Fabienne Watzke, exploring armour as ‘a metaphor for the structures of patriarchy’ and why the Middle Ages are trending.
