Why are there not more magazines about dance? Beirut’s a Dance Magazine is a ‘global dance magazine that transcends differences, distances, and disciplines to tell the stories of people from all over the world, who are dancing their lives and giving their bodies a voice.’
This pomegranate fourth issue, themed ‘Structure’, enters into dialogue with the fifth issue ‘Flow’, together exploring the dynamic interplay between form and freedom. Inside, you’ll find articles that explore structure as ‘a framework and a field for possibility’: from the ‘cosmic geometry’ of an arabesque and the human body as a folding form of origami, to the legacy of Austro-Hungarian dancer and choreographer Rudolf von Laban.
