Crosscurrent #7

235 x 300 mm, 312 pages
Biannual, published since 2022
Editor-in-chief & creative direction: Clarke Rudick
Art direction and design: Emily Schofield

Crosscurrent describes itself as a manual resource for discovery exploring fashion, art, architecture, and ideas. What makes it stand out from a crowded field is the people it chooses to feature and the way it presents them.

Editor-in-chief Clarke Rudick always pulls together a unique series of subjects, ranging from the well-known to the lesser, but soon-to-be known. Art director Emily Schofield designs the texts and accompanying images with plenty of room to breath—no page is full of text and no image extended to full bleed—giving a feel of calm conversation throughout.

Issue seven for Fall/Winter 2025 is the ‘Synchronicity’ issue, examining the generative and fulfilling potential of ‘unexpected connections’. Now large-format, with six covers to choose from, inside you’ll find roving conversations with creatives connected by their commitment to cross-continent and cross-cultural exchange. Hear from trailblazing East End gallerist with New York roots Maureen Paley, photographed by Jody Rogac in her thoughtfully curated Hove home; award-winning American author Jeremy Atherton Lin, coinciding with the release of his new queer memoir/non-fiction hybrid Deep House; Brooklyn-based indie pop trio ‘Nation of Language’; as well as, Brian Dillon on Ukrainian photographer Boris Mikhailov’s reverberating influence and refusal to be typecast.

Plus, a 20 page insight into Mark Borthwick’s experimental notebooks and life through the vibrant and intimate lens of Peter Tomka.
