A new endeavour from Left Cultures, Riots, Rebellions, Uprisings is a special edition zine recounting instances of rebellion against the system from across the UK, spanning a variety of decades and eras. This issue boasts a textured, glossy front cover and illustrations throughout, with the author of each story tethered to their account by personal ties to where it took place.

Unfolding in chronological order, this special edition begins in a small town near Northampton, whisking readers back to 1607 to revisit a revolt shrouded in mystery, hinged around a mouldy piece of cheese. Journeying through Britain’s radical past, readers can also expect a trip to Wales circa 1831 in a retelling of the Merthyr Rising, the tale of a parish in Cornwall that was home to the Camborne Riots 150 years ago, and a return to the 21st century for the Battle of Kenmure Street in Scotland.

On the Journal:
‘This magazine’s a powerful reminder that there is a left point of view still available, even if it is so often ignored, marginalised, or worse, demonised in today’s media. It’s refreshing to see these views collected together and rendered relevant and vital as ever.’
