‘Cycling culture’

Independent road cycling staple Rouleur totes itself as ‘the finest cycling journal in the world’. The name? Rouleur [roo-ler] ‘a rider with strength and style who goes hard on all terrain’.

As the new year begins, Rouleur’s 141st issue invites readers to ruminate on challenges, whether it’s a short cycle to see a relative or an attempt at the Silk Mountain Race—a race through the mountains of Kyrgyzstan and this edition’s cover story. Split into three sections, ‘Départ’ commences with a recipe for Thecha chilli chutney to accompany riders on the go, followed by an interview with Lael Wilcox, the fastest woman to ride solo around the world. In section two, ‘Échapée’, we meet Pauline Ferrand-Prévot in an interview delving into her life both on and off two wheels and take a look at Simon Yates’ audacious redemption on the Colle delle Finestre ahead of his sudden retirement last year. Rounding off the issue, Rouleur takes readers inside BMC’s Impec Lab, where top engineers push the boundaries of cycling technology.
